La Bottega · Restaurant · Bangkok
Italian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 49 in Thonglor, open since 2008
La Bottega has been a Thonglor institution since 2008, tucked on the second floor of The Terrace 49 on Sukhumvit Soi 49. Founded by chef Luca Appino, a genuine trailblazer of Italian dining in Bangkok, it built its name on rustic-yet-elegant cooking and honest, no-frills dishes made from fresh, carefully chosen ingredients. It is the neighborhood Italian that locals send visitors to.
The setting is relaxed and welcoming - a cozy indoor dining room paired with an outdoor terrace - the kind of place that works for a long lunch, a date or an easy dinner with friends. It trades white-tablecloth formality for warmth and consistency.
The kitchen is now led by head chef Marco Avesani, a Verona native with previous experience at Roberto's in Dubai, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant. His menu of handmade pastas and seasonal Italian classics keeps the house style intact, building each list around fresh, changing produce.
Reliably good, not showy, it remains a Thonglor favorite for straightforward, well-made Italian. Book ahead on weekends, ask for a terrace table when the weather is kind, and come hungry for the pasta.
