Nan Bei celebrates the cuisines of northern and southern China under one roof
Nan Bei - the name means 'north and south' - celebrates the cuisines of northern and southern China under one roof, occupying the 19th floor of Rosewood Bangkok on Ploenchit Road. It is a polished, ambitious take on Chinese fine dining, set in one of the smartest hotels in the central Ploenchit district.
The dazzling Art Deco room is the stage, framed by two open kitchens: one dedicated to southern seafood, the other to northern Peking duck, with the main dining room set between them. The layout is the concept made visible - two traditions cooking side by side, the diner seated in the middle.
The kitchen moves confidently between the two regions, and the signatures make the case: a celebrated Peking duck, squirrel fish, tiger prawn dumplings and delicate xiao long bao. It is refined, dual-tradition cooking that treats both halves of China with equal seriousness.
This is a destination for a considered Chinese dinner in a strikingly designed space. Book ahead, come with a group to order across both kitchens, and dress to match the room.
