Pastel occupies the 22nd floor of the Aira Hotel on Sukhumvit 11, a rooftop restaurant that leans toward the Mediterranean and the French Riviera rather than strictly Gallic cooking. It is led by Swiss-born, Michelin-starred chef Kilian Fioretto, previously of Les Montagnards in Broc, and it doubles as one of the more stylish rooftop dinners in the busy Sukhumvit core.
The setting does much of the work. A neon sign marks the entrance before the space opens onto a terrace edged with bamboo, archways and Mediterranean tiling, all soft pastel tones and sweeping skyline views. It reads as a slice of the coast lifted into the Bangkok sky, relaxed enough for drinks yet dressed for an occasion.
