Lamaya runs a tribal theme thirty floors above Sukhumvit 24, on top of the Staybridge Suites a short walk from BTS Phrom Phong. Carved timber, woven canopies and fire elements set the look, and the deck wraps the building, so the view takes in the Sukhumvit corridor in one direction and the towers of Asok and Phrom Phong in the other.
It is unusual among Bangkok rooftops for opening early. Doors are from 1 PM, which puts afternoon drinks and a long sunset on the table rather than a straight evening programme, and the kitchen runs sharing plates and set menus through the day. The back half of the night is the louder one, with a late programme that carries through to 2 AM.
The format suits a group that wants one address for the whole evening instead of a dinner and then a move. Reserve ahead for the sunset window and for anything above a four-top, which is when the terrace edge goes first.
Phrom Phong and Thong Lo sit within a few minutes either side, so Lamaya works as the opening or the closing address of a night rather than the whole of it. Reservations run through the venue's own booking system; ask early for the sunset window, which is the hour the terrace fills first.
