Tulum Sky Bar takes its cue from the Yucatan rather than the Thai skyline it looks out over. It sits on the 29th floor of the Estella on Sukhumvit 63, in Ekkamai, and plays the tropical speakeasy: planting and rattan, low lighting, cabana-style seating around the edge of the deck and a bar built around agave spirits.
That makes it a different proposition from the glass-and-steel towers on Sathorn and Silom. The room is warmer and more enclosed, the music sits at conversation level early and climbs through the night, and the crowd skews local and Ekkamai-resident rather than hotel guest.
