TAO Asian Bistro has been part of The Venetian since it opened in 2005, up on Level 2 of the Grand Canal Shoppes. The room is built for a scene: a 20-foot Buddha statue watches over the two-level dining room, with a koi-filled infinity pool, silk draperies and century-old stones setting the mood, and a DJ keeping the energy up through dinner.
The menu draws on China, Japan and Thailand. Miso roasted Chilean sea bass, lobster wontons in shiitake ginger broth, lamb chop yakitori and spicy tuna tartare on crispy rice sit alongside sushi such as the spicy tuna roll, and the Peking duck for two anchors a bigger table. Crispy pork bao buns, Thai duck fried rice and the giant fortune cookie are among the house favorites.
Dinner starts at 5pm every night and runs until 10:30pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday adds the Endless Buffet Brunch from 10:30am to 2:30pm, with sushi, dim sum and a dessert bar, and a social hour of cocktails and small plates runs late each evening. TAO Nightclub, part of the same TAO complex, opens Thursday through Sunday at 10:30pm, and Worship Thursday pairs dinner with a night at the club.
