Modern Aegean meze from Greece and Turkey, cooked over wood fire in Wynwood
Doya brings the share-everything energy of the Aegean coast to Wynwood's gallery district, set at 347 NW 24th Street around a theater-style open kitchen and a bar that merge indoor and outdoor space. It is a modern Aegean restaurant and bar built on meze, the small plates of Greece and Turkey, and it serves lunch through late dinner every day of the week.
The kitchen is led by executive chef Erhan Kostepen, who grew up above a restaurant in Izmir and co-founded Miami's Mandolin Aegean Bistro before Doya. The concept is meze in the truest sense: plates meant to be passed around the table, most of them cooked over wood fire and charcoal for their smoke and char. The menu changes constantly, with daily specials and as much attention on vegetarian and vegan dishes as on meat and fish.
Come ready to order broadly. Current plates include beetroot hummus with pine nuts, a bright branzino ceviche, grilled octopus over charcoal, grilled tiger prawns, and lamb kebap from the grill, with baked feta in Greek honey and the Doya grill board for a bigger table. The full menu is also served at the bar, which stays open late. The energy builds through the evening, and it suits groups who want to linger and couples after a lively date.
