Live king crab and dry-aged steak in Edgewater
Klaw Miami occupies the restored Miami Woman's Club in Edgewater, a landmark built in 1925, with Biscayne Bay filling the windows. It is a surf-and-turf house built for a celebration dinner or a deal worth closing, pairing live Norwegian king crab with steak dry-aged in house.
The restaurant runs across three floors: a main dining room, a theater kitchen, two private dining rooms named for Julia Tuttle and Henry Flagler, and Edgewater's only rooftop bar, looking out over the bay to the Miami Beach skyline. Martin Brudnizki designed the interiors, where rustic meets luxury behind floor-to-ceiling windows. The rooftop opens at 4 PM, Tuesday through Sunday, and is the natural place for a cocktail before or after the meal.
The signature move is Norwegian king crab, served with lemon garlic butter as a whole crab or by the leg and claw. Alongside it are Angus and American, Australian and Japanese wagyu, including Kobe beef, all dry-aged in house and cooked over a live fire of hickory and oak. The raw bar runs to Florida oysters and shellfish towers with king crab, Maine lobster and tuna sashimi, and the kitchen sends out stracciatella with pistachio pesto, bluefin tuna tataki, and grilled giant prawns.
The energy is dressy and celebratory without tipping into a nightclub feel. The dining room serves dinner only, Tuesday through Sunday, and is closed on Monday.
