Wood-fired, Asian-inspired restaurant in Wynwood
KYU brought serious wood-fired cooking to Wynwood at 251 NW 25th Street, in the middle of the arts district, and the Miami room is where the brand started. It first opened in 2016, closed after storm damage in November 2022, and reopened in March 2024. The menu is wood-fired and Asian-inspired, with Korean, Japanese, and Thai flavors running through it.
The dinner menu starts with snacks like krunchy kale with nam prik, corn ribs, and pork belly bao buns, moves through tuna and hamachi crispy rice and roasted cauliflower with goat cheese and shishito-herb vinaigrette, and lands in the smoked and wood-fired section. The Korean fried chicken with chili butter and braised spinach and the beef short rib are the dishes the kitchen singles out, alongside smoked brisket and a Thai rice stone pot with confit duck or king crab. The KYU Cinnamon Roll, with black sugar and chai frosting, is the way to finish.
The day runs longer than dinner. Lunch is served Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 PM, brunch on Saturday and Sunday over the same hours, and happy hour on the bar and patio on weekdays from 5 to 7 PM. Dinner starts at 5 PM, and the restaurant stays open until 10 PM Sunday through Wednesday and 11 PM Thursday through Saturday.
