Gran Morsi is a two-floor Tribeca Italian at 22 Warren Street, named for the Italian word for bites. It pairs an airy, lively main dining room with a private event floor that has its own full bar and sound system, a setup that suits both an intimate dinner and a group celebration. The event floor seats up to 110, and the main room up to 70.
The kitchen turns out boldly flavored modern Italian cooking with daily seasonal additions, and the pizzas are sourdough baked in the brick oven. The Polpette ($21) are the meatballs that beat Bobby Flay, and the core rotation runs through Squid Ink Pappardelle with shrimp and arrabbiata ($38), Tagliatelle Bolognese ($34), and the Margherita and Forest Mushroom pizzas. The Veal Chop Milanese ($84) with burrata anchors heartier orders. Burrata ($20) with beets and pesto opens the meal well, and Broccoli Rabe ($18) with garlic and chilies rounds out the spread. The wine list spans all regions, with a reserve list of fine and rare bottles.
The restaurant serves Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM. There is no formal dress code; the house simply asks guests to keep it classy.
For groups of six or more, the family style package ($95 per person) brings a spread of small plates, a pizza, pastas and mains, sides, and assorted desserts portioned to the party, and it is required for groups of twelve or more.
