Eddie V's Prime Seafood sits inside The Headquarters at Seaport, the restored 1939 former San Diego Police Headquarters on Harbor Drive, a few steps from the waterfront and Seaport Village. It is a polished room for seafood and prime steaks, and the V Lounge at the entrance sets the tone with cocktails and shareable bites before dinner.
The seafood is the reason to book. Chilean sea bass leads the fish, while the Shellfish Tower and the chef's selection of oysters anchor the start of the meal. Maine lobster bisque, a jumbo lump crab cake and crab-stuffed jumbo shrimp round out the catch, and North Atlantic scallops and twin lobster tails give the table more to share.
The steaks hold their own next to the fish: a 22-ounce prime bone-in ribeye, an 18-ounce prime bone-in New York strip and a 10-ounce filet mignon, plus filet medallions with lobster, Oscar style, for the table that cannot choose between land and sea. A wine list selected by the restaurant's in-house sommelier and a menu of handcrafted cocktails give plenty to pour alongside.
The V Lounge is the draw for lounge-first evenings. Settle in near the entrance with a martini, work through oysters and shareable bites, and move to the dining room when the table is ready. The restaurant opens at 4pm daily and stays open until 10pm Monday through Saturday and 9pm on Sunday.
