French omakase courses by owner-chef Shinya Otsuchihashi, a short walk from Nakameguro Station
Craftale is a French restaurant on the second floor of 1-16-11 Aobadai in Meguro, a seven-minute walk from the west gate of Nakameguro Station. Owner-chef Shinya Otsuchihashi opened it in September 2015, and it holds one MICHELIN Star in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026. The name joins craft and tale: each plate is meant to carry the story of the producers behind it.
Otsuchihashi, born in Kagoshima in 1984, cooked at Joel Robuchon in Ebisu and at Saturne in Paris, then joined Restaurant Anis in Hatsudai from its 2013 opening. The dining room seats 20, with a private room for up to four. Large windows bring natural light into the room at lunch, and wood and stone tableware, much of it made for the restaurant, warms a deliberately spare interior.
The kitchen builds on French technique around Japanese produce and the turn of the seasons, plating in colors drawn from the land and sea the ingredients come from. Every meal is an omakase course. The dinner course is known for its bread pairing, with different breads, and at times noodles or rice, matched to each dish, and it closes on a signature dessert that draws on the season's landscape.
Lunch is served Friday through Monday, with seating from 11:30 am to noon, and dinner Thursday through Monday, with seating from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Allergies and dislikes should be sent with the booking.
