Charcoal yakiniku courses in two nightly seatings on the 9th floor of GEMS Ichigaya
Sumibi Yakiniku Nakahara is Kentaro Nakahara's charcoal yakiniku restaurant on the 9th floor of the GEMS Ichigaya building at 4-3 Rokubancho, Chiyoda, formerly known as Sumibiyaki Shichirin. It serves set courses alone, in two fixed seatings each night, and received a Bronze award in The Tabelog Award 2026.
Nakahara sums up the restaurant in a single line on its own site: the wish to serve the most delicious yakiniku possible. Guests sit at tables or at the counter, which takes groups of up to four, and the beef is cooked over charcoal, as the name says.
Every course follows the same arc of appetizer, a raw dish, vegetables, soup, a finishing dish and dessert, and the meal opens with Korean-style squid sashimi and wagyu yukhoe. The Standard course is built around the house maboroshi tongue, a rare cut of Kuroge wagyu tongue, together with offal. The Special course adds the fillet katsu sandwich, which the restaurant says began here, and a version of the Special without offal swaps those cuts for more beef. Course contents shift with what the market supplies.
On weekdays the courses start for the whole room at 6pm and 8:30pm, and on weekends and holidays at 5pm and 7:30pm, each with two hours at the table. The restaurant closes on Wednesdays. Because each seating starts together, arriving on time matters here.
