The Tokyo branch of Tour d'Argent Paris, open at Hotel New Otani Tokyo since 1984
Tour d'Argent Tokyo is the Tokyo branch of the Paris restaurant whose story begins in 1582, set on the lobby floor of The Main building at Hotel New Otani Tokyo in Kioicho. It opened in 1984, on the hotel's 20th anniversary, and holds one MICHELIN star in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026. Executive chef Renaud Augier was named a Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 2019.
The rooms walk through French history. A navy entrance hung with autographs of royal and celebrity guests leads to a hall that re-creates the table from the 1867 Dinner of the Three Emperors. The main dining room is furnished in the Rococo style of Louis XV, with oak panels shipped from France, candlelight and chandeliers at night and views of the hotel's 400-year-old Japanese garden by day. Salon Frederic, the private room, looks onto the garden and seats up to 30.
Duck is the house signature. The roast duckling descends from Frederic Delair, who began numbering every duck served in Paris in 1890; Tokyo picked up the count at 53,212, the number after the duck served to the Crown Prince of Japan in 1921, and reached duck 300,000 in 2025. Crepes flambeed in Cognac with pink grapefruit close the meal, and the list runs to more than 1,000 French wines from a cellar of nearly 15,000 bottles.
Lunch is seated from noon to 1:30pm Thursday to Sunday and dinner from 5:30pm to 8pm Wednesday to Sunday; the restaurant closes Monday and Tuesday. Gentlemen are asked to wear a jacket.
