Sexy Fish brought its cult London glamour to Dubai on the eleventh floor of Innovation One, planting a high-shine Asian seafood destination in DIFC with skyline views over the financial district. It is equal parts restaurant, art gallery and after-dark scene, part of Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings stable and pitched squarely at the city's see-and-be-seen crowd.
The room is the headline act. Conceived by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, it layers mid-century opulence over an immersive underwater fantasy: bespoke Damien Hirst bronze mermaids and a reaching octopus, more than two million hand-painted coral pieces, jellyfish table lamps, Murano-glass tentacled columns and a school of fish lights arcing over the bar. Every surface is built to shimmer.
The menu roams the seas of Asia through a Japanese lens. Expect a raw bar of sashimi and nigiri, glittering seafood towers on ice, black cod and robata-grilled cuts, and playful desserts, all backed by an award-winning cocktail list and a serious sake and Champagne selection.
Momentum builds as the night goes on, with resident DJs turning dinner into a party, while lunch and weekend brunch stay calmer. Dress to impress, as the smart-elegant code rules out beachwear and sportswear, and reserve well ahead for prime dinner and weekend tables.
