Langan's Brasserie is the storied Stratton Street room that restaurateur Peter Langan opened in 1976 with actor Michael Caine and chef Richard Shepherd, and for decades the buzziest celebrity canteen in London. Closed and dark for a spell, it reopened in 2021 under Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen, who restored the glamour without sanding off the character.
The reason regulars book is the walls. The long ground-floor dining room is lined salon-style with an evolving collection of contemporary art hung frame-to-frame, in the tradition Peter Langan started, and the anchor is David Hockney, who designed the original menus and whose portrait of Langan himself hangs in the main room, joined by a mural from Glaswegian artist France-Lise McGurn.
