Roka is Rainer Becker's Mayfair izakaya, a Japanese room built around an open robata grill on North Audley Street. Becker opened it here in 2014, and it held a Michelin star from 2015 to 2018, drawing London's professional set for lunch, dinner, and group celebrations.
The 130-seat interior pivots around the charcoal grill: dark walls, polished wood, cozy booths, and a central sushi counter set close to the action, with a small outdoor terrace out front. The signature is the miso black cod, buttery fillets glazed in sweet white miso and grilled until caramelized. Around it, the robata turns out A5 wagyu beef tataki with ponzu and garlic chips, grilled king prawns charred in yuzu butter, crispy soft shell crab tempura, and spiced lamb cutlets with gochujang.
