Scott's has held its corner of Mount Street since 1851, a Mayfair seafood house whose champagne and oyster bar has drawn London's writers, dealmakers, and regulars for generations.
Behind its dark green awning, the interior, reworked by Martin Brudnizki, is a jewel box: a crustacea counter with ice, shellfish, and caviar on display, burgundy leather banquettes, crisp white linen, and rotating art. A terrace on Mount Street and private rooms, including the Platinum Arowana Room, round out the space. Lunch is the famous slot, filled by the Mayfair power crowd, but dinner keeps the same polished hum.
Oysters are the house specialty, and the fruits de mer and shellfish platters anchor the menu. Under head chef David McCarthy, the Dover sole, grilled or meuniere, is the dish guests single out most, and the lobster Thermidor is the other classic to know. Caviar and a wine list built around Chablis round it out. Scott's is listed in the Michelin Guide but does not hold a star; it is a landmark, not a starred kitchen, and loved for exactly that.
The room runs lunch straight through to dinner: Monday to Wednesday noon to 9:15 PM, Thursday to Saturday noon to 10:00 PM, and Sunday noon to 9:00 PM. Dress is smart and jacket-friendly, so skip shorts, athletic wear, and beachwear. Children under six are welcome at lunch on Saturdays, Sundays, bank holidays, and school breaks. Terrace tables carry a per-person minimum spend and go to the earliest requests.
