Coastal Italian dining on Biscayne Bay in Edgewater's historic women's club building
Casadonna is a coastal Italian restaurant on the water in Edgewater, set in the Mediterranean Revival building at 1737 North Bayshore Drive that is home to Miami's historic women's club. Open since 2023, it is built for a big-occasion dinner along Biscayne Bay, and its name, a fusion of Italian words meaning "house of the woman," is taken from that setting.
Seating runs indoors and out, across a main dining room, a garden atrium, a patio lounge and north and south private dining rooms, and the waterfront has docking for guests arriving by boat. Sunday brunch starts at 11 AM, and on Saturday the doors open at noon for lunch before dinner service.
The kitchen cooks Riviera-style Italian food with the freshest local and imported ingredients, built on traditional recipes from the coastal towns of Naples, Taormina, Bari, Positano and Gaeta and presented in a contemporary style. Current dinner plates include crispy baby artichokes with roasted pepper and marcona almonds, burrata with Kaluga caviar and house-made focaccia, Campanelle Bolognese with beef ragu, and Mafaldine Astice with Maine lobster and vodka sauce, alongside steaks and chops up to a 34-ounce porterhouse. Bespoke cocktails and an extensive wine list round it out.
Dinner is served from 5 PM Monday through Friday and from 6 PM on weekends, until 10 PM most nights and 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. The dress code rules out athletic wear, shorts, tank tops, branded baseball hats and flip-flops or sandals.
