Good Night John Boy · Nightclub · San Diego

A disco in the Gaslamp Quarter, open Friday and Saturday from 7pm.
Good Night John Boy brings its disco format to the Gaslamp Quarter, on G Street in the middle of downtown San Diego. The concept is the one the brand built in Chicago: Studio 54 crossed with a grandparent's wood-paneled 1970s basement, played straight rather than as kitsch.
The result is a disco in the proper sense, a low-lit room built for dancing with a soundtrack that stays with disco and the decades around it rather than drifting into contemporary club music. That makes it a deliberately different proposition from the Gaslamp's sports bars and its EDM rooms.
Food comes from Sexton's Pizza, an Ohio operation started in 2016 by two brothers running a food trailer. Sexton's partnered with Good Night John Boy in 2024 and now serves its pizzas and smash burgers across the Chicago, Columbus and San Diego rooms.
The week is short and concentrated: Friday and Saturday only, from 7pm until late. That early start makes the room workable as a first stop as well as a last one, and it takes private events outside those nights.

A table at Good Night John Boy depends on the night (weekends and event dates price highest), your group size, and where the table sits relative to the DJ booth and dance floor.
