Asahina Gastronome · Restaurant · Tokyo

Satoru Asahina's French restaurant on the ground floor of M-SQUARE in Nihonbashi Kabutocho.
Asahina Gastronome is chef Satoru Asahina's French restaurant on the ground floor of the M-SQUARE building in Nihonbashi Kabutocho. He opened it in 2018, and it holds two MICHELIN stars in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026. Asahina spent more than thirty years in kitchens before going out on his own, including head chef roles at the InterContinental Yokohama Grand and at Joel Robuchon in Tokyo, where he led the chateau restaurant La Table de Joel Robuchon from 2011. In 2006 he won the Trophee Maitres Cuisiniers de France Jean Schillinger.
The restaurant pairs its main dining room with a private dining room for two to eight guests. Children aged ten and over are welcome in the dining room, and from six in the private room.
The house motto is traditional heritage with modern innovation, and the guide describes a chef who studies the history of French cuisine and rebuilds old recipes in his own terms. Dinner is a single MENU Degustation: an amuse-bouche, three entrees, two of them cold and one hot, a seafood course, a meat course, two desserts, mignardises and coffee or tea. The weekend lunch is a shorter version with two entrees. The guide singles out a consomme pressed through a siphon and desserts brought to the table on trolleys, and wine pairings run alongside both menus.
Dinner is served Thursday to Monday, with seatings from 18:00 to 20:00, and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, with seatings from 12:00 to 12:30. Jackets are recommended for men but not required.
