Akira Back landed in Bangkok on the 37th floor of the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park
Akira Back landed in Bangkok on the 37th floor of the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, the local chapter of the globe-spanning brand from Korean-born, American-raised chef Akira Back. The cooking is modern Japanese threaded with Korean memory and a former snowboarder's appetite for bold, playful plates that never take themselves too seriously.
The room trades on its height, floor-to-ceiling glass pulling in the Sukhumvit skyline against dark tones and a sculptural bar that carries the night well past dinner. A sushi counter and an open kitchen anchor the space, and the mood tilts from a polished early sitting to a livelier late crowd as the bar program takes over.
Signatures travel in from every Akira Back address: the AB Tuna Pizza on its thin crisp base and the AB Tacos with wagyu bulgogi. Robata skewers, sushi and maki fill the a la carte, and Chef Akira's seven-course Discovery Menu gives diners who want the kitchen to lead a full tour of his signature dishes.
The 37th-floor perch makes this a destination for date nights, celebrations and skyline-hungry visitors, at its best after sunset. Book through the restaurant's reservation page, request a window table when you reserve, and note the dress code is smart casual.
