Michelin-listed Mexican restaurant with a fire-pit patio at Montage Los Cabos on Santa Maria Bay
Mezcal is the signature restaurant at Montage Los Cabos on Santa Maria Bay, and it is listed in the MICHELIN Guide for Mexico. The guide added it in 2025. The cooking is authentic Mexican, built on generations-old family recipes, and it is served in an indoor dining room and on the Mezcal Patio, where fire pits warm the evening and the view runs out to the ocean.
Dinner turns on shareable plates, traditional tacos and starters. Baja tuna aguachile, smoked kampachi over corn esquites and a Nayarit-style ceviche open the meal, and mains run to Sea of Cortez totoaba a la veracruzana and suckling pig slow cooked for 36 hours. The Essence of Mexico platters come with homemade corn tortillas: sea bass zarandeado, organic chicken in manchamanteles mole, and a short rib birria with avocado and serrano sauce.
Breakfast runs daily from 7:00 AM to noon, pairing eggs, fruit and smoothies with Mexican dishes, and dinner is served from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The bar stays open until midnight. Floor patterns drawn from the lines of the agave plant frame a deep mezcal selection, and live music and bright decor set the tone at night.
For something hands-on, the team runs a guided Agave Experience tasting tequila, mezcal and sotol before dinner, along with tequila and Mexican wine tastings and cooking classes on tamales, mole, and Baja ceviche and aguachile. Reservations are recommended for breakfast and dinner, particularly for the patio.
