Cocina del Mar sits on the clifftops at Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection, looking out over the resort's two private beaches on Punta Ballena. It works as a restaurant, bar, and lounge all at once, and a cascade of oceanfront terraces makes the sweeping ocean view the centerpiece of every visit.
The kitchen draws on the Sea of Cortez and Baja's farms for a menu of coastal Baja cuisine. Seafood leads the way: grilled oysters with brown butter and fire-roasted salsa, an amberjack ceviche with coconut dressing, and grilled red snapper at dinner, with a raw bar of ceviche, tostadas and seasonal shellfish at lunch.
An outdoor exhibition kitchen glows beside a wood-fired oven, a spot to talk with the chefs over small bites and regionally inspired cocktails, and the lantern-lit bar and lounge invite a drink before dinner. The mood is romantic and celebratory, and the bar stays open until 11:00 PM with live music Thursday to Sunday.
