Greek-Mediterranean dining from chefs Izu Ani and Orestis Kotefas in South of Fifth
GAIA is the US debut of the Greek-Mediterranean restaurant that began in Dubai, opened in 2026 in South of Fifth at the quiet, moneyed tip of South Beach. It is built for a dressed-up crowd who want dinner to feel like an event, with a smart elegant dress code to match.
The menu is curated by chefs Izu Ani and Orestis Kotefas, and GAIA also sets tables in Monte Carlo, Doha, London, Marbella, Saint-Tropez, and Bodrum. The Miami room unfolds through distinct spaces: a main dining room defined by the daily fish display, a salad bar, and a wood-fired oven; an open kitchen; a bar that welcomes walk-ins when space allows; a softly lit lounge; and a terrace overlooking South Pointe Drive framed by bougainvillea. A chef's table and the private NYX dining room suit more intimate gatherings.
The cooking is rooted in Greek-Mediterranean tradition and simplicity, letting the ingredient lead. Standouts include barrel-aged feta baked with honey, nuts, and filo, sea bream carpaccio with lemon, mandarin, and truffle dressing, tuna tartare with Oscietra caviar, baby goat slow cooked in the wood oven, charcoal-grilled wagyu rib eye, and lobster linguini in cherry tomato sauce. The energy is polished and social, right for a celebration or a long dinner on the terrace.
