Gaia brought its Dubai following to Mayfair in December 2023, opening at 50 Dover Street as the London chapter of chef Izu Ani's Greek-Mediterranean success story, with Greek chef Orestis Kotefas shaping the menu here.
The interior runs to neoclassical grandeur: domed arches, Hellenic statues, limestone walls, azure accents, and oversized chandeliers, all anchored by a theatrical central raw bar where the day's catch sits on crushed ice. The room scales from intimate tables to larger sharing configurations, and tableside rituals carry much of the ceremony, with staff slicing carpaccio, twirling pasta, and portioning whole fish at the table.
The cooking leans on Mediterranean seafood and traditional Greek home cooking. Sea bream carpaccio is sliced on the bone and finished with infused oils; spanakopita and lobster linguine hold the middle; and whole fish are grilled or baked and priced by the kilo. Mains extend to moussaka and lamb, and desserts arrive assembled at the table, including the filo mille-feuille.
Service shifts from a relaxed lunch to an energized, cosmopolitan evening crowd suited to celebratory groups and long, sharing-led dinners. Hours run Sunday to Thursday from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM and Friday to Saturday until 11:30 PM. Dress is smart elegant; sportswear and beachwear are not permitted.
