Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina at Essex House · Restaurant · New York

Michael Mina's steakhouse on Central Park South, open from breakfast.
Bourbon Steak occupies the restaurant floor of the JW Marriott Essex House on Central Park South, which gives it one of the better outlooks of any steakhouse in Manhattan and a patio that uses it. Michael Mina describes the room as his love letter to the classic American steakhouse, and the cooking follows that: premium cuts and seafood, with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and purveyors rather than flown in to a formula.
It runs a far longer day than most steakhouses. Breakfast opens at 6:30am on weekdays and 7am at weekends, lunch runs Monday to Friday from noon, weekend brunch takes over from 11am, and the bar and lounge stay open to 1am. The patio is open from 7am to 10pm.
Dinner is the main event, from 5pm to 10pm, and it is the service the room is built around. For a Central Park South address it stays notably unstuffy.
This is the third Bourbon Steak we carry, after Las Vegas and Scottsdale.
