Float is the rooftop pool bar and lounge set atop Hard Rock Hotel San Diego on Fifth Avenue, looking out over the Gaslamp Quarter, the harbor and the Coronado Bridge. By day the deck is built around the pool, with daybeds and cabanas fitted with lounge seating and flat-screen TVs. After sunset it becomes a lounge with fire pits and music every night, and hours shift with the season and the weather.
Saturdays belong to Liquid Sunshine, the hotel's dayclub, which runs from 1 PM to 6 PM. DJs play poolside, vendors set up so guests can shop between sets, and a complimentary rooftop fitness class earlier in the day comes with free entry to the party. The event is 21 and over, there is no re-entry, and hotel guests receive two complimentary tickets per room.
VIP setups cover poolside tables, daybeds and cabanas, with bottles served to the space. Cabanas are available year-round, day and night, with plush furnishings, direct pool access and dedicated table service. For a bigger group, a Float Studio adds two large couches, a private bathroom, a king bed, access to the Woodstock lawn and an overnight stay, for up to 15 people during dayclub hours. The menu runs from craft cocktails to fruit plates, burgers and pizzas.
