It remains a go-to for anniversaries, proposals, rehearsal dinners and easygoing celebration nights, and under executive chef Matias Forte new dishes have joined the ones regulars come back for.
The setting is unabashedly romantic, patterned after a hideaway in Tuscany: an arched entrance, alcoves and separate dining rooms, exposed rock walls, vaulted brick ceilings and hand-hewn wooden slab tables with natural edges. Guests can sit on a patio open to the stars, in the air-conditioned dining room or in a private salon, and local musicians play in the evenings, from classical guitar to electric violin.
The kitchen keeps to classics done well: house-made pastas such as four-cheese gnocchi, seafood linguine and Bolognese lasagna, truffle or shrimp risotto, a long list of pizzas led by the house pizza served since 1986, and a Caesar salad for two prepared at the table. Gluten-free pasta is available on request.
The room opens at 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday and at 2:00 PM on Sunday, and the patio is at its best once the sun goes down.
