The Office on the Beach is a Cabo institution, an unabashedly toes-in-the-sand restaurant set directly on Medano Beach. Its roots trace to the 1970s, when the first palapa on the beach served ceviche, fried fish and margaritas, and a windsurf renter who entertained his friends there called it 'the office.' The name stuck, and a blue sign with yellow lettering soon made it official.
The setting is the whole point: casual open-air tables on the sand. The kitchen is open all day, seven days a week, from breakfast at 7:00 AM through 11:00 PM, and mornings bring shrimp, lobster or octopus omelets, machaca and chilaquiles.
Later the menu spans fresh fish, coconut shrimp, fried calamari, tuna tiradito, lobster tacos, fajitas and deep-fried whole red snapper, plus a steamed lobster tail in season and a Caesar salad for two made at the table. Shrimp arrives by the bucket on ice, and local steamed crabs come with garlic and butter.
Evenings add live music from around 7:00 or 7:30 PM, from jazz on Mondays to Fiesta Mexicana with mariachi on Thursdays. Reservation requests go straight to the restaurant, which confirms whether the date and time are available.
