Sunset Monalisa is a cliffside, open-air fine-dining room perched above the water with a straight sightline to Land's End and the iconic Cabo Arch, El Arco. The story on this spot began in 1991 as Ristorante Da Giorgio, and today chef Hector Morales leads the kitchen.
The kitchen cooks Mediterranean and modernist cuisine, with Morales pairing Mediterranean technique with ingredients from Baja California, such as Sea of Cortez sea bass and San Carlos scallops. Dinner is built around set menus: a three-course prix fixe, The Signature five-course menu, a chef's tasting menu created by Domenico Stile, and a four-course Ocean Terrace menu. The main terrace also offers a la carte and Josper grill dishes.
Timing is part of the ritual. The upper main terrace faces the sunset over Cabo San Lucas, the premium terrace below sits closer to the ocean, and the three Ocean Terrace booths gather around a fire pit at the very edge of the cliff. It is the sort of place where the meal and the setting are impossible to pull apart, and where the light does as much work as the kitchen.
