Zuma New York brings the contemporary Japanese izakaya and robata grill to Midtown Manhattan, at 261 Madison Avenue. Opened in 2015, it is the New York outpost of a global brand with rooms in London, Miami, and Dubai, and the 100-seat space is built to feel busy and social, the kind of high-energy room that sets the tone for a night out.
The design carries the brand's signature look: elegant Japanese-inspired interiors in moody, warm hues with iron-and-leather finishes. At the large sushi counter chefs prepare sashimi, nigiri, and maki in front of guests, while at the robata grill meats, seafood, and vegetables cook over charcoal. There is an upstairs lounge, and the bar pours more than 80 sakes and serves the full menu in a more relaxed setting.
The cooking is built for sharing across the table. Signatures include the premium Japanese wagyu striploin with chili ponzu, the sashimi platter, rock shrimp tempura with chili tofu, and grilled Chilean seabass with green chili and ginger dressing. Lunch runs Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM; dinner is Monday to Wednesday 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM and Thursday to Saturday until 11:30 PM, with the bar open daily from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Private dining spans four rooms that can open into one for up to 500 guests.
